Traffic is everything if you own an online business. Whether you have a personal blog or a complex e-commerce shopping site, you can’t expect to make any real money online unless you drive more visitors to your website.  The are thousands of online and offline ways to get more traffic. Some of them are very easy to implement while other are a bit more complicated. Here are 10 methods that you can use to drive more traffic to your affiliate website:

1. Facebook Groups: Facebook has millions of users. By getting folks to be your friends, you can communicate with them and get them to visit your website. The more people you are connected with, the more access you have. You shouldn’t spam folks on Facebook, so make sure you provide them valuable information at all times.

2. Forums: forums are great for attracting targeted traffic to your site. You should stay away from embarrassing discussion and try to establish yourself as a super-user and a guru in your market. Don’t forget to include your contact information in your signature.

3. Banner Exchange: by exchanging banners with other websites in your niche, you can drive targeted visitors to your site without too much hassle.

4. Tumblr: Tumblr is another great site to connect with more people and get them to visit your site. Make sure you promote your Tumblr account on Twitter, Facebook, and other Web 2.0 sites to get yourself established.

5. Article Distribution: it’s one thing to write articles and submit them to EzineArticles. It’s another thing to submit them to thousands of article directories. You can always outsource this process and watch your numbers improve.

6. Yahoo Directory: yahoo directory is a bit costly but once you are listed in that directory, you can expect your search engine rankings to improve a bit, and your pages start to get indexed more easily. Think of it as a business investment and not a cost.

7. Sponsor Events: sponsorship may sound very expensive, but you can find local sponsorship opportunities for cheap.

8. Branding: create branded t-shirts, mugs, notebooks, and give them away. The more t-shirts you give away, the more people will know about your website.

9. Awards: there are a few organizations that offer awards to the most useful websites. If you have one of those sites, make sure you participate.

10. Long-tail keywords: each long-tail keyword may not bring you too many new readers, but if you target enough of them, it all adds up.

By using the above techniques, you should be able to get more people to your website and convert more sales.

Panah makes some awesome points here. And all of these are doable.  Don’t tell me that #9 Awards is a challenge.  You know why?  Create your own award!  Make it daily or weekly, create a badge that the awardee’s can post on their site.  That will lead folks back to you.  In fact, each of these are an article onto themselves.

We have begun using Tumblr recently and are seeing the results in several areas. If nothing else, you are creating backlinks.  And no matter what people say about SEO, they count.  Branding doesn’t have to be expensive either.  Get value out of it. Create a contest and award branded merchandise to the winners.

Great post by Panah here!

One Response to “10 More Ways to Increase Your Traffic To Your Site!”

  • The forum, tumblr, and article distribution were all great tips. I will definitely have to give tumblr a look, as I haven’t heard of it before. I think another great way to do this is to link all of your social media sites together. For example linking your Twitter with your facebook so your facebook posts get reposted on your twitter.
