Social Media - Questions to AskSocial Media is an intricate part of our overall online strategy for small business.  Perhaps you already have a FaceBook Fan Page?  Maybe you are already using Twitter?  Are you on LinkedIn?  Have you tried to implement a social media strategy without help but it just doesn’t seem to be working?

Take a moment and try to answer these questions – it could save you time – it could help you jump start your efforts:

1.  What are you trying to accomplish by using social media?
2. Why have you decided to use social media?
3. Which social media networks are you planning on using?  Why?
4. Are you ready to relinquish total control of your brand?  Your reputation?
5. How do you plan on encouraging participation by employees, customers, vendors, and prospects?
6. Who will maintain your presence on these social networks?
7. Is this a temporary deal or do you plan on a long-term relationship with social media?  Are you serious?
8. How does social media fit into your overall sales, marketing, advertising, and public relations campaigns?
9. How do you measure success?  Failure?

These are not all of the considerations – but we would argue that if you can successfully answer those nine questions you are on your way to an effective strategy and you will be light years ahead of your competitors.
