When either Dennis or I talk to clients or prospects, it is likely one of the topics that is going to come up is the subject of blogging.  I have to admit that many times their eyes start to glaze over when we say that the more you blog, the more successful you will become.

Because suddenly, there is a realization that there will be some effort that will need to be put forth by someone and many business owners are a bit overwhelmed anyhow.

Google rewards regular updates to your blog or site!

You don’t have to create an article of your own everyday (although your readership might like to at least hear/see something original from you from time to time.

Your site is more likely to come up in the search engine if you are regularly adding original content to it.  That much we know.  But the challenge comes in when you have to think of content that is relevant to your niche regularly.

Trackle could be an answer!

There are several methods of getting content to you:

  • Google alerts – put in your keywords and it will return articles that contain those.  I am not for a moment putting this down.  It is just that like most people who run a business, I am busy and often the last place I think is to go into those alerts to pull the data out.
  • Social Oomph – does similar to google alerts and will send you an email of keywords you are tracking.   I like that, but it only brings tweets that have come across Twitter.  Still, very viable, but maybe not quite as potent if you are looking for content. (But is a great way to monitor what people are saying about your brand)  Tweetdeck and Hootsuite offer similar capabilities in that it brings keyword tweets to you where you are likely to see them.

But Trackle will not only bring you the tweets, but also the articles and other news bits that come over the net that are in your niche.  For example, if I am interested in a company or brand, it will bring it to me.

Trackle will provide results from news, blogs, web, forums, media sites, social networks, RSS feeds and some custom databases. Here are just a few of the places Trackle is going to bring keyword hits back to you from:

  • News
  • Blogs
  • Web
  • Forums
  • Websites
  • Twitter
  • Media sites (Youtube, Flickr)
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • MySpace
  • Custom feeds (eg. RSS)
  • Custom databases (eg. Edgar)

I really like Email & SMS alerts from Trackle where you can track practically anything online – from local information to social networks to shopping.

So, give it a try and let me know what you think.  There are lots of place to get content.  I have mentioned some in other posts, but this is one of the tools I am currently using because it brings it to me.  And that is a good thing for this Social Media Dude!
